We had another exhausting day getting ready for the road show. Jerry and I met with the Sgt. Chris Augustine with the Colorado State Patrol and with Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Public Information Officer (PIO) Susan Medina early in the morning to finalize the plans for our the first road show stop at the Colorado State Capitol Building in Denver. We are getting a police escort/motorcade to the Capitol in the morning! That is so freaking cool!!
We then headed up to Loveland, CO and met Austin at Bronze Services to see the monument loaded up into the semi-trailer. When we arrived, it was already loaded up so we spent a little time chatting with the truck drivers who would be hauling the monument during the road show. Vicki and Windell Lively are a husband & wife trucking team with the biggest semi that I have ever seen in my entire life. They are fantastic people, very experienced with trucking, and they even have two miniature poodles traveling with them. We decided to head back to Jerry’s house to finish prep work on the trailer to make the monument look fantastic on the back of the truck.
After 10 hours of work, 4 trips to the hardware store for supplies, and dozens of neighbors and friends stopping by the house to see the monument, we had finished building a ramp for visitors to get onto the trailer and decorating the trailer. We didn’t even eat because we were so busy and focused. We did get a big laugh for the day when a bird pooped on Jerry and Windell while they were working on constructing the ramp. Is that considered a good sign?
The last task of the day was buying muffins and drinks for the anticipated 300+ employees from the Colorado Bureau of Investigations. They are our first stop on the road show to thank them for supporting the monument over the past four years. Let me tell you that we had a ton of crazy looks at the grocery store. We even a store employee ask to take a picture of our muffin-loaded cart. Time for bed because tomorrow is a when it all officially begins. WOOHOO!!

I attended the kick-off event at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. It was amazing! The crowd shed lots of tears when the monument was presented. Very powerful stuff! I’m certain the other stops along the way will be just as spectacular. Be safe! Your friends from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are cheering you on every step of the way.
